Our Studio

At Bamboo Pilates, our sessions are individually designed for you, whether your need is improved strength, flexibility, relief from neck tension, or relief from chronic pain. While our primary modality is Pilates we access our range of experience and education to meet your goals. Our sessions are influenced by our instructors' backgrounds which span from dance and yoga therapy to craniosacral therapy. We structure your sessions so that over time you are gaining greater strength, flexibility, ease of movement and overall comfort in your body.

Pilates is an excellent addition to any workout reimen.  Many athletes find that Pilates helps improve their technique therby enhancing their performance. Pilates utilizes concepts of breath, precisio, resitance, core conditiong and control to allow the body to work as an integrated whole.

Therapeutic Pilates



Pilates can be catered to meet the needs of almost anyone.  Therapeutic Pilates can complement many rehabilitation scenarios, from injuries and surgeries to chronic conditions like lower back pain.  Our programs have also been designed to accommodate a range of challenges like Fibromyalgia, Multiple Sclerosis, and recovery from procedures related to breast cancer treatment.  Our staff serves a variety of populations such as pre-/post-natal, teen, and senior fitness.  We provide a caring environment for all our clients and tailor workouts that support well-being.

Private sessions offer a wonderful opportunity to explore your individual quest towards your physical goals.  Whether you are looking to get in better shape or have therapeutic needs the Pilates Method will be tailored to help get you there.  Every session will include exercises and movements that are specifically designed for your body and objectives.  Private sessions are ideal for clients who are new to Pilates, have biomechanical or therapeutic issues, or enjoy a one on one experience.

A duet Pilates session consists of two compatible partners being taught a Pilates lesson simultaneously. Students are matched up by the studio or include partners who already know each other. Similar goals or issues are helpful in getting the most out of a duet Pilates session. A duet session is also very tailored like a private, however the time is shared between the two clients. The exercises chosen are those that benefit both bodies. All equipment is available to be utilized.

*A private session may be recommended before beginning duets.  Private sessions may be recommended if a student's well-being would be better served in an individual setting.

Trio Essentials caters to a group of 3 students and covers essential level material on the reformer and cadillac as well as small equipment such as foam rollers and balls.  This faster paced class is a good fit for clients who have a working knowledge of pilates and have no injuries or pain conditions.  Use of pilates equipment enables the student to increase core stability while improving posture, flexibility, and balance.

*Consent of instructor and pre-registration required.  Class will be considered full with 3 students. Bamboo's 24 hour cancellation policy will apply.

Functional Integration® is part of the Feldenkrais Method® that involves the use of gentle, non-invasive touch to facilitate improved movement and coordination of the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems.  The result is often improved comfort, balance, flexibility, relaxation, and pain relief...improving your palette of mobility.

Originally from Sacramento, Natalie trained in classical ballet starting at a young age. She followed her dance passion to University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated with a Major in Dance and a Minor in Exercise & Health Science. Natalie moved to San Francisco post-graduation in order to pursue a dance career in the welcoming artistic community. In a short time she faced an ankle injury that resulted in surgery, and Pilates ultimately regained her strength and got her dancing again. Pilates had been a part of her regime as a young ballerina but it was the re-introduction after surgery that helped reawaken her passion.

Natalie comes to San Diego from San Francisco as a certified STOTT Pilates Instructor. She received her training at the Licensed Training Center in San Francisco, Blue Sparrow Pilates. After training, she continued to teach and learn for the entirety of her time in the Bay Area under the direction of Holly Furgason. Since she began teaching she has helped people manage chronic pain and diseases, as well as recover from debilitating injuries. Natalie is on her way towards specialty tracks in post-rehab Pilates and pre & post-natal Pilates. She is thrilled to be a part of the Pilates community here in sunny San Diego!

Kitty is Stott Pilates advanced Performance and rehab Instructor and certified in teaching TRX and Kettlebells
Kitty James has lived in Coronado since 2003. She is originally from NYC where she was raised and danced professional classical ballet for 15 years. She studied with The Royal Academy of dance (RAD) and School of American Ballet (SAB). She also had the opportunity to dance at Pacific Northwest Ballet and Competed in the Prix de Lausanne in Switzerland.

Kitty first discovered Pilates while recovering from a dance injury at age 14 at The School of American Ballet. She had multiple stress fractures on her Lumbar spine and needed a rehab therapy method that would support her classical dance movements and train her entire body safely.Kitty retired from dance and had to further heal her body of chronic injuries she hadacquired and used the Pilates method to get her body back online. She moved to San Diego in 2001 when her husband was perusing his career in the Navy.After the birth of her 3rd child she decided to undergo her complete Stott Pilates training and pursue her desire to teach and help others through Pilates. She later had a severe abdominal diastasis and needed to take time heal herself again with a more therapeutic style of Pilates..

Kitty's life journey has given her the opportunity to train clients for the past 4 years from the rehabilitation level to a high performance level. She enjoys working with a variety of clients and is excited to work at Bamboo Pilates and be so close to home!


Alicia’s ten years of experience as a personal trainer, means she boasts a wealth of experience in helping people become healthy, inside and out. Alicia studied for her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at San Diego State University where she graduated in May 2003. Alicia carries several certifications including STOTT Pilates Certified Instructor Level I and II, American College of Sports Medicine Health Fitness Instructor Certification, C.H.E.K. Level I Holistic Lifestyle Coach, and TRX Suspension Training Instructor. In addition to working at Bamboo, she is also an instructor and the Fitness Director at Marshall Eklund Fitness and Pilates. Ever driven by her passion for making the world a healthier place, in her spare time Alicia is either working out with her significant other, or researching the latest training methods and healthy recipes.
Julie has a long history of working with movement in various capacities. First being a dancer and occupational therapist, she found her way to Pilates, Craniosacral Therapy, and the Feldenkrais Method® while rehabilitating her own injuries. Julie has a Level 1 Stott Pilates Cerification, has completed a craniosacral certification, and is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM. She specializes in the therapeutic use of pilates to rehabilitate injuries, teaches Awareness Through Movement® classes, and offers Functional Integration® lessons. Together, Julie’s studies give her a unique perspective and understanding of stillness, motion, and function.
Sarah Gereghty is a STOTT certified Pilates instructor and has 25 years of dance experience, specializing in ballet. Drawing from this experience she is able to help her students become aware of their body to gain strength and ease of movement. She helps them to build their core muscles in every movement in class.  With her kinesthetic knowledge of anatomy and how the muscles move, Sarah will help her students to build a lengthened and strengthened body. She has worked with a wide range of students, from other dancers to students recovering from injury, she has taught beginning students as well as advanced students. Sarah has worked in Northern California, Wichita, New York and San Diego.

"When I started Pilates two years ago, I thought the goal I had set was realistic.  At age 75, all I wanted was to keep my body somewhat flexible and to build up enough body strength to help prevent injury if I should fall.  I have always exercised, but I have watched my body deteriorate over the years.

"Sarah Gereghty is the rarest of instructors-she leads me way beyond where I even could imagine in pilates.  She has this ability to make Bill, Sue and I somehow want to please her and put our bodies through a lot.   I never thought that I would try so hard.  When I am coasting, Sarah knows it, and, with her good humor, gets me going again.   Sarah is really the 8th wonder of the world!  She is so full of enthusiasm for pilates and ballet and that enthusiasm cannot help but rub off.  I just wish everyone could have her teach them.  I really feel so much better with the workout she has given me over the past year.  Now if only I would do her "home exercise" program.  That will be something to strive for.
